Extra! Extra! Read all about it!

The 'It' mentioned in the title of this post refers my life for the last week :)

Don't you just love when you actually get stuff in the mail???
I had to take a picture so I would remember the awesome-ness I felt at this moment.

On Sunday afternoon Mom, Dad, Maci, and I made the trip to IF to see the family.
This little guy is growing up SO fast!
Can you believe he's already three months old?
He looks more and more like Ronnie every day.

We also had a new experience!
Nate and Rebecca were able to come up and visit for the weekend
and they introduced us to Wild Asparagus Hunting.
This is Maci and I before we left.

Here I am afterwards.
I look awful because it was raining and windy :P
Asparagus hunting is so dang hard!

It grows along ditch banks in the Idaho Falls area.
You would think that it would be pretty easy to spot, but it's NOT!
I was pretty awful at it until Rebecca's brother came and helped me.
It was actually a lot of fun even if it was cold and wet and miserable the whole time.

The three sisters sharing their spoils!

I was so happy to get to see these guys!
Rebecca is due October 5 and is having a little baby boy!
I can't wait to see the Three Amigos running around and playing together.

Sleepy little Isaac!
He definitely doesn't like to wake up!
He's adorable and looks just like an Owen.

Maci and Greysen.
Maci got her braces off recently and this was the first time I saw her without them for almost two years!
Doesn't she look so gorgeous?
She's seriously growing up :(

Oh, and thanks to Lindsay for lots of the pictures on this blog!

The Results Are In!

It was a close race, but in the end it looks like there was in fact a winner!

Root beer and peanuts. Don't knock it till you try it!

10 Pet Peeves

1. When people say "I could care less"

By saying that you could care less, you could in fact be saying that you care a great deal, which is obviously not what you mean.

2. Wen ppl type lyk dis

  Need I say more?

3. Yawn pokes

Derek, this one's for you! Yawning is a beautiful thing and when it gets poked it ruins a beautiful moment!

4. When people measure a player's prowess by how many rings they've gotten.

You know, you get a ring if you ride the bench too...just sayin'!

5. When people use the wrong form of there or your.

We learned this in third grade people!

6. When white people think they're black and wear their pants halfway down their butt resulting in a Franken-duck walk.

7. When people make fun of Soda Springs.

It may be small, but if you've never been there you can't (and SHOULDN'T) judge

8. When you're one card away from going down in Books and Runs (or Nasty if you belong to the Stoor family) and the person right before you goes down and OUT!

I have ruined many a good score because of this!

9. When someone has a new boyfriend of girlfriend every other week and they claim to LOVE every one of them.

No you don't. Don't kid yourselves.

10. Slow internet connections.

Who I Am

Who I am is probably my favorite song of all time.
I have always felt like it describes my life perfectly
(even though it has been pointed out to me that it fits just about everyone's life)
My favorite part of the song goes like this:
And when I make a big mistake
When I fall flat on my face
I know I'll be alright
And should my tender heart be broken
I will cry those teardrops knowin'
I'm gonna be just fine
Cause I know exactly who I am

Some other songs that I've been liking a lot recently are:

Without You by Keith Urban (but then again I love anything this man sings)

Are You Gonna Kiss Me Or Not by Thompson Square

A Little Bit Stronger by Sara Evans

I Won't Let Go by Rascal Flatts (Another group I can't get enough of)

What Do You Want From Me by Jerrod Niemann

Just a Kiss by Lady Antebellum (I love every one of their songs but Lookin' for a Good Time :P)

Raymond by Brett Eldredge

Barefoot Blue Jean Nights by Jake Owen (It's so catchy!)

And last but not least

Don't You Wanna Stay by Jason Aldean and Kelly Clarkson

A legacy

I got a message on Facebook from my friend Allison saying that she and the rest of the stake heard a story about me at seminary graduation last night.
I found this a little odd because I haven't lived in Moscow for almost four years.

She later informed me that Brother Banks was speaking about how sometimes God makes divine signatures on certain times in our lives.

He shared the story about how I met Brianne Kline, the girl who changed my life.
If you don't know there's a watered down version here. It's down toward the bottom. Reason number 8.
I honestly didn't think that this story would make such a big impact on anyone's life but my own.
Brother Banks got up and told everyone that he had asked my permission to share this story
(It was YEARS ago! It may have actually been right after I bore my testimony about it at Youth Conference)
I don't think he would have taken no for an answer anyway.
He also told them that he had been waiting three years to share this story.
Why he waited that long, I don't know.
He must have felt impressed that someone needed to hear my story at that time and not before.
It's crazy for me to think about:
Did I really make a difference?
In my hour of despair, did I maybe change someone's life?
And without the knowledge of it?

All I can say is I don't know, but I hope whoever needed to hear it that night did.
I hope my legacy will live on in the hearts of those who heard it.
And I hope you all know what a big impact this has made on my life.

My Best Friend

I know that I have written about Carley a few times, but I just can't seem to say enough about this girl.

To be perfectly honest, we're polar opposites.

She's blonde...I'm brunette

She's outgoing...I'm shy

She makes friends easily...I have to really work at it

She's artistic...I'm more of a math and science person

She's fashion forward...I'm fashion backward most of the time

She's absolutely amazing in absolutely every sense of the word...okay, that's a quality we share ;)

She's creative...Google's creative for me

She dyes her hair...I'm partial to my natural color

She's involved with class elections...I'm NOT

But even though we have a lot of differences, none of it really seems to matter.
We know what really matters is what's on the inside and we like to focus on those things.

  • We both love bird watching (even though I don't think either of us has done it in awhile)
  • We both love Dove chocolate. When one of us is having a bad day the other one usually finds a way to get the other some chocolate.
  • We love getting together for movie nights.
  • We both love making cookies (just not for the entire school like for that Good Works project right Car?)
  • We both love scary movies (and agree that most of them aren't that scary)
  • We both love to write
  • We both love music
  • Most importantly, we both love each other.

I will stand by this girl to the end!

Now here's the hard part to fathom...she graduates on June 3rd.
It was hard for both of us when I graduated last year, but we knew that I would only be an hour away.
But now she's going to be going to Logan and I'll still be here in Pocatello and it'll be even harder to see each other.
No matter how much I like growing up....it stinks sometimes doesn't it?

I love you Carley Sue!

It takes dedication...and boredom

How many of you have played Minesweeper?

I used to play it on my dad's computer all the time, and a few months ago I found a free app so of course I downloaded it.

I passed the easy one with no problem...
The intermediate one took a week or so...
And the expert one took me an embarrassing 3 (ish) months.

I finally beat it last night and let me just say that I believe this summer is going to be a GREAT one :)

This isn't my actual game.
Mine is way harder because it zooms in and you have to scroll around.
Also, I definitely did NOT finish in 139 seconds.
It was more like 760

Weird or not?

I need your help people!

Is it weird or not to put peanuts in your root beer?
I'm going to post a poll and I want you all to vote!

Bets I've Won

Derek and I tend to disagree about lots of things, so they end up in bets such as this:
What's this called?

I asked Derek if I could borrow their Church Key awhile back and he looked at me like I was nuts.
"It's a can opener!" He said.
After five minutes of trying to convince him that it could be called either we turned to the only way we know how to settle these ridiculous bets.
Aaaaand guess who won?
Me.

Now for the next one:
Derek: "Emma, can I borrow a sauce pan?"

Me: "Sure, here ya go!"
Derek: "No no no, not a pot. A saucepan! Like this."

Me: "You mean a skillet?"

*five minutes of arguing*

Emma-Leigh wins!

And for the last one:

I have the cutest nieces and nephews!

Isaac Douglas Owen

9 lbs. 4 oz.
22 inches
Cute as a button!

Greysen Gene Thinnes

Phoebe Elizabeth Owen

Gwendolyn May Owen

Heck I hope I got those birthdays right...

If you couldn't tell...

I WIN!

Finals, Moms, and Klutzy Moments

I've given up on the Photo Challenge...it just wasn't very fun!

So here is what has been going on in my life lately...

Finals

Last week was Finals week, which meant lots of studying and worrying and breakouts :P
To be perfectly honest I was really disappointed in myself.
I feel like I slacked off a lot more this semester and my grades weren't as high as they usually are.
My classes weren't even that difficult really...I was just bored out of my mind!
Next semester I'm starting new with classes I actually feel like matter for my future as a pharmacist.
It's going to be tough going, but I'm determined to not slack off again!

Moms

I always kinda figured that I would come home for Mother's Day...I mean why not? It's not like I have anything to do!
Then I noticed my gas tank was running a little low, so I checked my bank account to see just how much I could spare for gas.
....All I had left in my account was enough for rent and tithing.
The thought to use my tithing money was in my head for about 3 seconds.
Ultimately I decided that I would just give my mom a nice call for mother's day :(
The day after I made my decision a very welcome surprise came in the mail.
MY TAX RETURN!
Though it wasn't much, it was enough to get a roll of quarters for laundry and fill up my tank.

Then I decided that I wasn't going to tell mom that I was coming and surprise her :)

Klutzy Moments

I left church right after Sacrament Meeting for Soda Springs.
I pulled my phone out to text Maci (she was in on the secret).
I saw that I had a missed call from Mystie, so I dialed her number and started to walk down the stairs.
About half way down I missed a stair and fell down about two stairs on my knees:

I didn't clean it before I left for Soda...so that was another surprise for mom.

I really can't express how thankful I am for my mom.
She is an amazing woman.
One day while I was sitting at the Daycare I was asked why I loved my mom
without even having to think I said,
"Because she's really supportive of me and she loves me too."
It's 100% true.
I can't imagine life without my mom.
She loves me even though I laugh at stupid things.
She loves me even though sometimes I don't give things my all.
She loves me even though I sometimes lose my temper.
She loves me even though I don't deserve it at times.
She loves me even though sometimes all I call for is advice on how to make food.
She loves me even though I'm not perfect.

I LOVE YOU MOM!
Happy Mother's Day!

I'm such a slacker!

Photo Challenge: A picture of your favorite movie.

I have a lot of favorite movies, however if I had to pick one it would be:

And I have to play catch up again because I didn't post yesterday.

Photo Challenge: A picture of your favorite disney character.

I have two, and there's no way I can pick between them, so I'm doing both.

and

Honestly, I think the moment when Belle and the Beast come down the stairs and dance is one of the most magical moments in Disney history...:)

Also, Mulan just rocks!
'Nuff said.
