Forever and Ever!

Well folks, it finally happened!

Brendan and Witney were finally sealed for time and eternity in the Logan Temple on February 18, 2012.

The last few days have been pretty hectic, but I honestly could not be happier. I truly believe there is no one in this world who is better for Brendan than Witney is and I'm so SO happy that he found her. She fits into our family so well and she is strong and faithful and diligent.

I just have a few pictures from the reception because I accidentally forgot my camera (and jacket!) in the car when Bren and Wit emerged from the temple. I guess I'll just have to steal those pictures from Maci or Mom.

Witney, I love you and welcome to the family at last. Thank you for making my brother so happy and for sticking with him through thick and thin. You amaze me.

Their reception was picnic themed, hence the little ants.
I seriously love the idea of a rice krispie cake!

The cross stitch I made for them of the Logan Temple.
The stitched the words to the chorus of their song in the border.
Did you find you were falling like I have been falling for you?
Were you counting the days before seeing my face?
Tell the truth, does love like this really just happen?
Baby, forgive me for asking, but how could it be that you wanted me?

Cutting the cake turned out to be a pretty big challenge.

Almost as big as trying to chew it.

No matter how happy we all were, by the end of the day I'm fairly certain we all felt a little like this:

And if not like that, then at least like this:

February is Nuts...

February is the shortest month of the year...so how in the world did my family manage to cram what seems like EVERY SINGLE important event into it?
(I only say that because I was born in February and I seem to have picked up a very narcissistic attitude from somewhere...)

February 9th: Nathan has his birthday. Granny would have been celebrating her birthday this day as well. Miss you Granny!

February 10th: Grandma Owen celebrates her birthday.

February 13th: Phoebe turns three.

February 15th: Rebecca has her birthday.

February 17th: Brendan and Witney have their reception.

February 18th: Bren and Wit will be sealed for TIME AND ETERNITY! Finally...

February 22nd: Little Grey turns 1! My how the year has flown...

February 23rd: I finally leave the desolate wasteland that is teenager-hood

(Also, I'm fairly certain that my grandpa on my mom's side was born somewhere in the middle of the month. Mom?)

Seriously, there's an average of one important event every 3.6 days or somewhere in that ballpark.

My Eternal Family

My home teachers asked me the other day what I am most thankful for in the gospel.
Without thinking I said that I can be with my family for eternity.
As these words left my mouth I had some words come to mind that overwhelmed me with happiness and joy:
"You will never go another day in all of eternity without your family."
Oh it is such a comfort to be sealed to them and to know that I can be with these amazing people that I love like nothing else forever and ever and ever.

The gospel is true, folks. I can't say it loud enough or with enough feeling.
We love each other.
We support each other.
We cheer each other on.
We talk to each other.
We are best friends.
What I did to deserve to be in such am amazing family, I don't know.
But I am forever and eternally grateful for whatever it was.

*Oh man, here come the water works.*
Is it ridiculous that I make myself cry just thinking about how much I love my family?

Gratitude #6

Today I am grateful (does anyone else always want to spell that greatful?) for the power of prayer.

I had an experience a couple of weeks ago that really touched me.

In May I started praying every morning and night that Bren's paperwork would go through so he could be sealed to Witney.
I would guess that it was sometime in August or September that I stopped for whatever reason.

Just the other night I was writing in my journal and as I signed my name and wrote my acronym PUSH, I thought back to this post.
I realized it had been quite some time since I prayed about Bren's paperwork and I felt horrible.
I knelt and prayed once again that the paperwork would get done and that Brendan and Witney could be sealed for time and eternity.

The next day I got call from my mom.
The paperwork is getting done and sent.

Guys, whatever you do, always always ALWAYS

Pray Until Something Happens.
It could really change things.

Double post

Yesterday I got a little caught up in something:
So I kinda forgot to post...

I guess I'll just have to double up to keep on track!

Photo Challenge: A picture of the people you spend most of your time with.
Kenna and Mystie (I kinda don't have a picture with Lyndsey and Megan)

Kyle= Awesome

Derek= ...Derek

Photo Challenge: A picture of the best part of your day.

Getting to come to IF to spend time with Greysen, Lindsay, and Ronnie.
...And Brendan and Witney and Mom and Dad and Maci.
Can you believe this little guy is already almost 3 months old???

This one's for you...

This is for all of you who:
Know that Dove chocolate does indeed fix everything.
Genuinely care about me.
Leave notes for me that you know I'll see that always always ALWAYS make my day.
Tell me that you love me unconditionally.
Say those profound things that I've heard zillions of times, but all of a sudden make an impact.
Understand where I've been and know where I'm going.
Can finish my sentences.
Can always make me smile.
Laugh at my (usually) stupid jokes.
Have told me that you're proud of me.
Know that there is a deeper meaning to Bubbles and Potato Salad. :)
Understand what I'm talking about when I say Potato Tots.
Compliment my cooking even when it's not the greatest.
Crawled into my bed with me when you knew I was crying just to give me a hug (just FYI, this only applies to Maci)
Pulled me onto their knee and held me while I cried.
Supported me even when I was failing.
Have lent me things even when it wasn't convenient.
Bring me down to earth.
Helped me separate Cross Stitch thread into the wee hours of the morning.

I LOVE YOU!
That is all :)

Are you in the mood to laugh?

On the way back home from Boise, we (namely Maci, Brendan, and I) got bored in the back seat and had a little too much fun with the web cam on my computer.

Warning!
Side effects of viewing the following pictures may result in shortness of breath, hysteria, and in rare cases, six pack abs.

Figuring out how to work the web cam

Maci's face makes me laugh!

"What are we going to do today Brain?"
"The same thing we do every day Pinky, try to TAKE OVER THE WORLD!"

You'll never take me!

Yeah...I started to laugh

Mystie says this is her favorite of me

Snooty

This one makes me laugh hysterically every time

What would my life be like without my siblings?

BORING!!

Blessing number 28

Hugs :) (side note: I totally had this post all written up yesterday, but I forgot to push the post button)

Has anyone ever noticed how good a hug can make you feel?
Boy oh boy do I love hugs...
as long as it's from someone you know and not some random creeper.

The best kinds of hugs are the ones you get
when you've just seen someone that you haven't seen
in a very long time. Like this one:
We were all so happy to have him back!

I also love the hugs that seem to never ever end
and when neither one of you wants it to.

And the ones when you can just tell that
they love you even though they don't say a word.
(Most of these have come from my brothers, so don't get any ideas! I'm still single!)

Blessings number 11

Yes, I realize that I wrote Blessings number 11. I have two today because I didn't want to pause my family blessing and I didn't feel like I could pass up Veteran's day.

To start, I will be forever grateful for the service men and women who serve our country. It's a scary job, defending a country, but you go and do it because you know what you have to do. I don't think you get enough credit for all you do.

The other day I went to the ISU vs. Sacramento State volleyball game. They played the national anthem and we all stood to salute the flag. I couldn't help but notice that 5 of the 10 or so girls on the Sacramento team were not saluting the flag.

Idiots!

Every one of them. I don't think they realize what they were doing. That was 100% unamerican. I may have been able to understand it if we were reciting the Pledge of Allegiance (even though I think that two little words shouldn't offend someone so much), but this was the NATIONAL ANTHEM for goodness sake.

Anyway, I'll get off my soap box now and leave you with this, I love this nation and I love all those who fight to maintain our freedom. Thank you! A thousand times, thank you!

Now...
On a different note, I am very much grateful for my older brother BRENDAN.
Man, Bren and I used to hate each other I think.
It is still fresh in my mind all the fights and arguments we had that started something like this,
"Brenda!"
"Oh yeah! Emma!"
Now that I'm older, I totally see how mean it was to call him Brenda.
I may not have liked being called Emma, but at least it was my name ;)

We weren't always that way though.
We still have pictures in our family albums
of Brendan and I helping Grandma pick peas in her garden
and playing games on the computer.

Brendan used to take a nickel to school in Kindergarten (I think)
and buy me a pencil without mom's knowledge.
I had quite the collection going before she found out
and made him stop.

Another thing I remember about Brendan is the term
WAY TO BE.
He used to say it all the time!
He would see someone running down the street
and he, being a runner, would say, "Way to be!"
I haven't heard him say it in awhile though.

He is a very talented poet when he puts his mind to it.
I remember one poem he wrote in 9th grade
about a black mother and son.
The mother tells her son that they are different
because of the color of their skin
and the son says that they are different,
but the difference is within.
That's not the whole poem of course, but that's the gist of it.

On his mission he would send us all letters for our birthdays.
This is the letter he wrote me for my 17th birthday:
As I sat to write this letter

Poof! I thought of something better
One poem it is, coming your way
Emmi, yes it is your birthday!
Making you...well, let's see

Four...seventeen! I can't believe!
Only yesterday you know, did we
Refine the art of picking peas

Trade our pencils during your nap
Have our turn on daddy's lap
Eat after-lunch pickles at Gramma's house

BEFORE our lunch of spaghetti-os
Invent ways to hide from Taffy and
'Gree to make your Knex wand

But you can see, we're older now
Only our memory can tell us how
Once upon a time we were that small
Grow up we did to be so tall
Everything went by way too fast
Remembering now that it's the past

(The pickles and spaghettio's line needs a little explanation. Grandma would always offer us a pickle for our after lunch snack, but Bren and I would always hide under the table and eat it before lunch. Lunch was usually Spaghettio's cause they rock my world).

If you read the first letter of every line it says,
A poem for the big booger
That's his nickname for me, and mine for him is
Bigger booger.

Brendan has definitely had some difficult times
recently, but I don't remember him ever complaining.
He was very much humbled and he never doubted
what he knew once.
He's such an excellent example to me.

This was our second attempt at a picture. He made me take another one because he "looked stoned" in the other one...
Now he's not even looking! However I think he has a cute smile in this one haha

I love this boy more than any words can express.
He is truly one of my best friends.
I love you Brendan!
