You Feeling Lucky Punk?

Zach, Ryan, and I just spent the last hour shooting each other with my Nerf gun...
One would shoot, one would dodge, the other would spectate.
Then the dodger became the shooter, the shooter became the spectator, and the spectator became the victim.

Zach taking a moment to reload

I really don't think Ryan was playing around...

And it turned out that Ryan was a REALLY good shot
Scroll down for more evidence of this fact.

I was just a little dumbfounded.

All That I Can

The other day at work I had the line "I'm gonna do all that I can" pop into my head and I couldn't get it out for several days.
I decided that the only way I could get it out of my head was to get it on paper, so I wrote a draft of a poem and emailed it to Maci.
Over the course of the next couple of days she critiqued and I rewrote it until we were both happy with it.

I'm having some mixed feelings about posting it because it feels so personal, but I don't want to keep it to myself. I don't think that's what poetry is for...so here goes.

All That I Can

Little boy, arms 'round my neck
He's suffering pains that won't relent
Stuck in a world that's all his own
Left behind as others have grown

I don't understand the pain you feel
But what I'm seeing is, oh, so real
Little boy, I swear it's my plan
So I'm gonna do all that I can

Mother, with tears welling in your eyes
Sometimes your boy is hard to recognize
No day's the same, but still you push on
'Cause each day leads to a brighter dawn

I don't understand the pain you feel
But what I'm seeing is, oh, so real
Mother, I swear this is my plan:
I'm gonna do all that I can

Savior, Ruler of earth and sky
You know my pain, I see it in your eyes
I'm reaching out to find your hand
'Cause, Lord, I've done all that I can

Look what ELSE I bought!

Goodness knows my apartment has been in dire need of kitchen chairs for like centuries (we had 5, but 2 of them were broken), so I finally took the initiative to go and buy some of my own.

Thank Youuuuu DI.
There were 4 of them for 12 bucks each, so I couldn't pass it up.
(My mind tried to tell me to, so I called my mom for support haha)

I love these things!

Get ready for a storm!

I have realized that I haven't posted about my life recently...like at all, so I really need to play catch up!

I've started reading more books lately.
I've always been a ridiculous reader,
I'll get caught up in a story, but then get bored.
I have to be reading at least 2 books so if I get bored I can pick up the other one.
My books right now, The Work and the Glory vol 4 and The Fire of the Covenant.
Both by Gerald N. Lund :)

Anatomy and Physiology textbook: $93.95

Anatomy and Physiology lab manual: $116.50

Web Access code: $57.50

iClicker: $28.50

Interactive DVD's plus a coolio picture book thing: Priceless.
Good thing too, cause I thought I was gonna cry!

No, really though. Books are ridiculous!

So...funny story.
Mystie got married!!
But that's not the funny part.
When I went to put her gift in the bag, the bag kinda sorta ripped.
I had to get a little creative with the wrapping.
I ended up wrapping it in tissue paper and then cutting the bag apart and taping it so it wasn't so transparent.
Oh, then I forgot the card, so I improvised with the back of a tithing slip (the only available paper in the WHOLE church building)

And, the last thing for this post is this:
I have been Cross Stitching a LOT!!
It's ridiculous how detailed these things can get, and I'm super proud of how far it's come.

Here's a close up on the face.
You see all those itty bitty stitches???

Sunday ♥

I used to dread Sundays.
Course, I think just about everyone did. When you're a kid it's tough to sit still through 3 hours of church.
As I grew older I definitely started to like them more, but since I've been in college it's been AMAZING!
I personally think I have the coolest bishop in the world.
Last week at ward prayer I answered a question before the bishop could and I guess he was a little miffed...he asked me to speak in church.
I honestly don't mind speaking in church, so of course I accepted.
Today, as I was speaking I could feel the spirit so strongly, which is a good thing considering I was speaking on The Spirit of Revelation.
Bishop gave the male speaker a handshake and then hugged the two female speakers.
I really appreciated that.
With Bishop Wilker you always know that you are loved and cared for.
He rocks! 'Nuff said.

After church I was invited to eat lunch with a new friend of mine who just returned from her mission in Japan.
We had mashed potatoes, gravy, and corn. SO good.

I then went to another friend's house and made homemade ice cream.
My family is definitely no stranger to homemade ice cream, but we use freezers, so it was a little different making it in a Ziploc bag.

Ward prayer is always a treat.
We always start out with trivia from the Ensign. I think that's awesome because it encourages me to read it and actually pay attention.
I'll do anything for pudding! (That's one of the usual prizes)

Another kind of tradition that has started is going over to Tim, Zach, and Ryan's house and playing games.
We used to watch movies, but everyone agreed that we get to know each other a little better when we can actually talk to each other.
I don't think I have ever laughed more in my life than when I am with these guys and the rest of our friends.
The letter game, What if?, Signs, Smurf...the list of games grows every week

How did I get to be so lucky?
I am SO grateful for the gospel in my life.
I am grateful for my friends.
I am grateful to be alive.

It sure is a great life :)
